Handbrake

On 10, 03, 2012, I got an idea of how to use handbrake program for videos. Basically, it is used to shrink videos to make them smaller than the original sizes. I found that the quality might change depend on the new size you chose. In the end of this month, I will assist some educators to get their videos done with handbrake. It is going to be a great opportunity to provide some information about this cool program.

Google Docs

After attending the workshop which was about Google Docs, I really learned a lot. To illustrate, I noticed that Google Docs is an amazing powerful tool for people especially educators. It has great benefits including sharing and collaborating on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations with other people anywhere they are and anytime they want.
The most important idea I learned is that Google Docs enables its users to work together in a same document at real time even if they are in different locations. It also allows them to edit and chat, so they do not need to send attachments back and forth. As a result, I would use it if I had a work group because sometimes I have trouble meeting my group.
Since I have not worked yet, there are some ways I would use Google Docs. First of all, I would use it to upload all my presentations and documents I have made for my classes then share them with friends. In addition, I would recommend it to my friends and my family. For example, I have a sister and a brother who are teachers. I have noticed that they have some difficulties of sharing documents with their students and grading papers. By using Google Docs, they are going to solve all the problems easily. I think we should recommend teachers to use Google Docs, and I am sure they are going to love it. Students also would love it too.
In simple words, it saves time and papers. By using Google Docs, we can discuss, share, collaborate, explore, and expand ideas with others around the world.

Deep Freeze

During my internship, I worked with Kevin Austin who is the Systems Administrator at College of Education and Human Services at Wright State University. For about five weeks, I
learned how to update the software on machines and cards. In addition, I used a protecting system called "Deep Freeze".
Some of its benefits are  :
  • Computer stays frozen, so there is no need to worry about virus or spyware.
  • No need to update.
  • No need to install and run the latest version of anti virus software, anti spyware  software , and software update .
  • You do not need to worry about data loos due to hackers, viruses, and system crashes.
It is just a wonderful program for computers which are using in schools, universitiescolleges. As a result, they would not loose any data that they removed by mistakes.

ISTE 2012

ISTE’s thirty third annual conference and exposition was in San Diego, California from Jun 24-27. Basically, the event discovered how educators from everywhere in the world are using great technologies to help students develop their horizons. In addition, It included 300 model lessons, BYOD (bring your own device) sessions, lectures, and panels 135 hands-on and seminar-demo workshops ,500 exhibiting companies, agencies, and organizations 400 informal and interactive learning activities. Furthermore, all the programs were well prepared and useful to everyone who wanted to expand and explore the professional learning and networks.
Honestly, I could not manage all of the opportunities that were offered even in four days because there were so much going on at the same time. I tried as much as I could to attend a few sessions and workshops which were related to my studies, and they were very supportive. For example, some of the sessions and the workshops I attended were “What’s next in Interactive Video?”, “Multimedia Poetry Slam”, and “Programs for International Student Assessment PISA.” Also, I volunteered for three hours long with the Technical Support in the last day. In simple words, I helped people who wanted to print some paperwork or any other documents. I gave directions for the meeting rooms when needed, and I helped who had some problems with his/her iPad or computer.
Lastly, I would thank the Ministry of Higher Education and The Culture Mission to The U.S.A for giving me this great opportunity to explore, expand, and achieve powerful tools from educators around the world.
